You probably know that soda, junk food and any sugary food are not the best choices for your health. But you likely didn't know that there are still many food that are laced with additives and chemicals that can potentially harm your health.
So, to know more about the stealthy health saboteurs, Helen Bond, a dietitian, shared to Mail Online some of the food she would never eat. Here are some of it, which she considers unhealthy food:
Soup
Bond said she would never eat this type of food because canned soups contain high level of salt and additives as well as preservatives. Nonetheless, Bond said people can still eat canned soups. Consumers just need to choose it carefully by checking the label. Breakfast sandwich
The nutritionist said she would never eat food like this because breakfast sandwiches are often made of white bread-- making it lack in fiber. Moreover, this type of food contains processed meats like bacon and sausages, which are high in saturated fat. "This is not something you should be enjoying on a daily basis," the nutritionist added.
Smoothies
While smoothies are way better than sugary drinks and sugary food, Bond said the only problem here is the way smoothies are made. She said smoothies purchased in stores contain high calories with added sugar, syrups and whole milk or yogurt. Moreover, the process can only remove the fiber-- making it unhealthy to consume. In addition, smoothies can only make people less likely to feel fuller for longer. Popcorn Why would she never eat popcorn? Well, Bond said popcorn is a whole grain, hence it is a low fat snack. However, when people begin adding flavorings to it that's when the problem starts. "Eating foods slathered in butter or sugar regularly will only add calories to your diet," she explained. Thus, she would never eat such food. White chocolate
Bond said this type of food is not healthy because it doesn't contain any cocoa, which is high flavonoids, the antioxidants that can protect cells from damage. Instead of eating white chocolate, she said people should opt for darker chocolate because it contains healthy flavonoids.
