'The Walking Dead' Episode 2 Review: Here Is Why Death is Integral In Michonne's Character

"The Walking Dead: Michonne" Episode 2 offers us a deeper look and understanding of the titular character's backstory where Michonne's hallucinations go out of her control. Something horrible is bound to happen and it will force Michonne to survive on her own.

Michonne runs on survival mode all the time, making her destructive. She thinks everyone and everything are threats and this often gets her into trouble. In Episode 2, Michonne is unwilling to do a few things that compromise her safety. She is just forced to keep Sam alive because she has killed one of the people under the care of Norma. However, chaos somehow manages to follow Michonne, no matter where she goes, as reviewed by IGN.

"The Walking Dead: Michonne" Episode 2 gives comic fans something to appreciate. Also in this episode are Michonne's two daughters who finally gets credit. They are Collette and Elodie. Hearing her say the names is reportedly a special moment for the fans. QTE actions are also better in this episode. At one point, players have to take out a bullet from Sam's wounds using a plier. Michonne's shoulder also gets dislocated and it is up to them to pop it back in.

However, gamers do not have that much control over the character's actions. A dilemma Michonne has in this episode does not seem to matter because choosing either one of the given options seems to lead her down to the same result.

"The Walking Dead" Episode 2 gamers are also not allowed to avoid killing. This is Michonne's story and death is an integral part of it. Even Michonne on screen is a killing machine, killing 24 zombies in one go, as reported by Comicbook. However, her behavior coupled with Pete's idealistic nature creates a nice contrast, though he is somewhat a two dimensional character.

"The Walking Dead" Episode 2 however, gives us beautiful imagery. Telltale Games does a fantastic job of showing Michonne's hallucinations bleeding into reality. Thankfully there is an indication when she is starting to trip and Robo, a robot toy, shows up. The episode provides us a powerful illustration of her world's instability.
