Celebrity dads Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are teaming up again. The long-time friends have been attached to the development of an American Revolution movie based on a book written by Nathaniel Philbrick called "Bunker Hill: A City, A Siege, A Revolution."
Deadline reports that Warner Bros. acquired the film rights to the book in 2013 and has tapped Aaron Stockard for the screenplay. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are on board the project as executive producers. Affleck has also worked with Stockard in previous films like "Gone Baby Gone" and "The Town."
"Bunker Hill" centers on the beginnings of the American Revolution in Boston and depicts how a physician and soldier named Joseph Warren became a vital figure for the cause of the Patriot. The story also introduces important historical figures like Paul Revere and George Washington.
The Malay Mail Online reports that Ben Affleck is being eyed as the director of the film and Matt Damon will star as Joseph Warren. However, none has been confirmed about casting at this point. Deadline reiterates that no solid commitment to the project has been made.
The news comes as Affleck is doing one project after the other for Warner Bros. The actor is scheduled to start filming as Batman on "Justice League," which will be a two-part feature. He's also set to tackle a new "Batman" stand-alone film as its writer, lead star and director. On the other hand, Damon is wrapping up filming for the fifth Jason Bourne movie and "The Great Wall." He also has two other movies lined up until the next year.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, who grew up together in Massachusetts, got their biggest break in Hollywood with the movie "Good Will Hunting" in the 90s. The celebrity dads received an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the movie.
