There have been more questions than answers about the PS4 Neo when Sony confirmed that it was indeed upgrading the PlayStation 4 (PS4). Will the new console be better? What's the difference between the PS4 and the PS4 Neo? Will the PS4 Neo render the PS4 useless soon? Should gamers buy the upgrade?
Despite the confirmation, Sony has kept details of the PS4 Neo hush-hush. The company stated that it will reveal more when it is ready to do so, per Parent Herald. Even before Sony acknowledged the PS4 Neo, there have been plenty of speculations about its features and specs. Thus, gamers can pretty much gauge that the PS4 Neo will be more superior than the PS4.
But aside from this, here are the presumed differences between the PS4 and the PS4 Neo. Keep in mind that the PS4 Neo specs are unconfirmed at this point:

PS4 sells for $350 and it is believed that the PS4 Neo will be priced slightly higher, at around $399, given its features.

The PS4 and the PS4 Neo will supposedly keep the same specs for its optical drive and hard drive. The PS4 Neo will be backward compatible with previously released games, per the IGN chart.
Meanwhile, Sony assures PS4 gamers that the existing console will not become obsolete once the PS4 Neo is out. "New high-end PS4 is still PS4 so you know the life-cycle is not going to be shorter," Sony president Shuhei Yoshida said, per VG 24/7.
The upgraded console will not be a competition to the PS4 and will instead complement its use. So, if a PS4 user wants to upgrade, he will be able to do so without making his old unit outdated in a few years. Watch Yoshida's full interview about the PS4 vs. PS4 Neo life cycle in the video below:
