Jane's real identity on "Blindspot" Season 2 is about to get some clarity as the show is reportedly planning to incorporate several flashback episodes that will have viewers learning about her childhood. The writers' room has started working through this storylines as filming is expected to roll in a few weeks.
"Blindspot" Season 2 is looking to cast a young Jane who is going to figure in several episodes throughout the upcoming season. The child actress they want to cast should be about 9 or 10-years-old and she must also be skilled in martial arts or gymnastics. The girl must also have "flawless South African" accent, per TV Line.
Based on these details, it looks like Jane's backstory could reveal that she has been trained to fight and groomed by a mercenary group as a little girl. It also supports that the faction she belongs to as an even bigger threat to the world.
Back in May, "Blindspot" showrunner Martin Gero did say that Season 2 will be about learning of Jane's real identity. Specifically, Gero told Entertainment Weekly that the details to who Jane really is will spring up in "Blindspot" Season 2 Episode 1 and 2, and her real name will be revealed. Gero assures the fans that the information about Jane will the real deal and not some fluke that became the running theme for the first season.
Meanwhile, "Blindspot" Season 2 has a new addition in Archie Panjabi. The actress will be playing the role of an NSA head who has been keeping track of Jane, per Variety. Panjabi might be the key person who will provide the FBI with details of Jane's real identity and past.
"Blindspot" Season 2 will premiere on NBC on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. The show is the number one new series to debut last season. It stars Jaimie Alexander and Sullivan Stapleton, as well as Ashley Johnson, Audrey Esparza, Rob Brown and Ukweli Roach.
