After letting go of some of its actors for the upcoming second season, "Code Black" continues to expand its cast. It looks like Angels Memorial Hospital is going to be a lot crowded in "Code Black" Season 2, but that's a good thing for the show's progress in the storylines.
'Code Black' Season 2 Former Cast Member Returns
According to TV Line, former cast member Tommy Dewey is going to be part of "Code Black" Season 2 for a recurring story. The actor plays Dr. Mike Leighton, who overshadows his little brother Dr. Angus Leighton in the medical industry.
Viewers might recall that Dr. Mike almost became the Chief Resident at Angels Memorial. But the actor had to beg off playing a more permanent role due to his commitment in another series, "Casual," which runs on Hulu. The show is set to have its third season run in 2017, per Deadline. Hence, Tommy Dewey's attachment to "Code Black" is only for a multi-episode appearance next season.
Tommy Dewey himself confirmed his participation in "Code Black" Season 2. He posted a photo of himself on Instagram with the show's newest doctor, Rob Lowe, with the hashtag #codeblack.
'Code Black' Adds Stellar Guest Stars
Deadline reports that "Code Black" Season 2 has enlisted Camryn Manheim, Eric Roberts and Alexandra Grey for a guest spot in the episode "Life and Limb." Manheim takes on the role of a truck driver's wife. Her husband was in a terrible accident. Grey is going to play a transgender woman who comes to hospital for stomach pains, while Roberts will play one of the main character's father, Vince Savetti. He convinces his son Mario to invest in a deal, but Vince is kind of a hustler.
In June, "Code Black" producers made the decision to let go of series regulars Bonnie Somerville and Raza Jaffrey for Season 2. However, Rob Lowe was added as military doctor Ethan Willis recently to play opposite Marcia Gay Harden's Dr. Leanne. "Code Black" Season 2 returns on CBS this Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 10 p.m.
