The premise of "Jane the Virgin" is pretty much stated in its title and despite having given birth early in the series due to an accidental insemination procedure, Jane has never had sex at all. But it looks like things are changing in "Jane the Virgin" Season 3. Actress Gina Rodriguez confirms that sex involving her character could be finally happening.
'Jane The Virgin' Won't Be A Virgin In Season 3
Viewers may recall that in the finale episode of "Jane the Virgin" Season 2, Jane has gotten married to Michael and has been looking forward to their first night together. She was going to have sex for the first time! But an unexpected and unfortunate incident involving Michael delayed the consummation of their marriage.
While the extent of Michael's gunshot wound is still not yet known, Gina Rodriguez assures fans her TV husband will still be in Season 3. Also, her character is definitely going to lose her virginity this season.
The actress pointed out that "Jane the Virgin" showrunner Jennie Snyderman Urman has been hinting Jane loses her virginity in the upcoming season. "So I think it's safe to say, if Jennie says it, it's probably true," the actress told Wetpaint.
For the showrunner, the theme of "Jane the Virgin" doesn't revolve around preserving her virginity and keeping it intact for the rest of the series. But when it will happen isn't in the books just yet. The only thing certain is that Jane won't lose her virginity at the beginning nor the finale of Season 3. "It feels like it puts too much pressure on it, and that isn't what the show is about at its core," said Urman via Entertainment Tonight.
'Jane The Virgin' Season 3 Begins Production
The actress also shared that filming for "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 won't begin until the second week of August, even as other productions have already started with theirs since July. The show is expected to return to The CW on Oct. 17.
During the cast's off season, Gina Rodriguez has been keeping herself busy with "Bienvenido a lo Mejor," which is a contest hosted by Verizon. She's also making the press rounds for her movie "Deepwater Horizon" with Mark Wahlberg, per Good4Utah.
