‘Lucifer’ Season 2 Cast & Spoilers: Michael Imperioli Casts As Lucifer, Amendiel Brother

It is only a short wait before "Lucifer" returns for Season 2 in September, and one of the recent teasers is the casting of Michael Imperioli who will play as the brother of Lucifer and Amenadiel.

"Sopranos" alum Michael Imperioli is going to play as Angel Uriel, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Amenadiel's (D.B. Woodside) brother. The announcement was made during the Television Critics Association's press tour this week. "Lucifer" executive producer Ildy Modrovich told Entertainment Weekly, "We are going to have another angel come down; that's kind of a big thing that's going to happen pretty early on."

"Amenadiel is the older brother, Lucifer is the little brother who got all the attention, and Uriel is the one lost in the middle," showrunner Joe Henderson told TVLine. "He's got a chip on his shoulder, and that will be a big part of him coming down."

In the finale episode of "Lucifer" Season 1, their mother, Charlotte, played by Tricia Helfer, has escaped from hell, planning to take on revenge on human and demonic race. Spoilers tease that despite her wrath, there is still that maternal side, because she loves her sons. Perhaps the three brothers could handle the Mother from Hell?

Meanwhile, "Lucifer" executive producers also defended that casting of Tricia Helfer given that her age is so close to that of her TV sons. Modrovich said that they were looking for someone who could make her sons really uncomfortable, and that Helfer is perfect for that. Executive producer Joe Henderson added that the mother from hell is looking for a body because she didn't come to earth with one, per The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to Michael Imperioli and Tricia Helfer, Aimee Garcia has been earlier signed as a series regular. Garcia will play as Ella Lopez, the new forensic scientist at LAPD.

"Lucifer" Season 2 is slated to return on Monday, Sept. 19 at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
