It's really not surprising to see, hear or read reports about Michael Schumacher's health condition. But what is quite surprising are the latest claims that former Ferrari boss Luca Cordero di Montezemolo claimed that the 47-year-old German racing legend is responding to treatment.
Michael Schumacher is once again making headlines after several U.K.-based online news sites published a hopeful report that the seven-time Formula One champion will likely come out from the "very, very difficult situation" he's currently in, debunking the earlier reports that Schumi's health is deteriorating day by day. While the latter has never been confirmed, di Montezemolo's statements were old news although The Telegraph reported it was said on Monday, quoting Ecumenical News.
"I'm very pleased to know that he is reacting," di Montezemolo's statement read, as Daily Express quoted. "I know how strong he is. I'm sure that thanks to this determination, which will be crucial, he will come out from this very, very difficult situation."
The aforementioned statements, however, was taken from a CNN report dated May 12, 2016, when ex-Ferrari president Luca Cordero di Montezemolo told CNN's The Circuit during an interview at his office in Rome, Italy. Parent Herald also published the report, noting that di Montezemolo didn't further elaborate what he meant when he said Schumacher has been "reacting" to treatment.
With that said, many Michael Schumacher fans were certainly hoping the reports were indeed true. But with the ongoing media blackout requested by the family, it's best to take all Schumacher reports and updates with a grain of salt until confirmed by his family or by his long-time manager Sabine Kehm.
Meanwhile, Michael Schumacher is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the state-of-the-art and highly secured medical suite at his family home in Gland, Switzerland. According to The Sun, he has been home since June 2015, following his two life-saving operations that put him in a medically induced coma in 2013.
As for Michael Schumacher's current health condition, the latest statements from his manager Sabine Kehm was said during the launch of Schumacher's football tribute "Champions for Charity" held at FSV Mainz's COface Arena in Germany on Jul. 27. At the time, Kehm stressed that Schumacher's health condition details will remain under close wraps as the family wanted to keep their privacy.
"We all know that I cannot comment," Kehm said, as per FOX Sports. "We just have to accept that the family wants to continue to protect their privacy. Of course, Michael will not disappear but at the moment the private situation is so difficult that unfortunately no insight can be given. There must be understanding for this."
Since there are no real-time scoops available about Michael Schumacher's health condition and recovery, it's safe to assume that the latest report that was also published on Daily Mail and Daily Mirror were mere speculations. Despite the scarcity of updates, avid Schumi fans have managed to keep hashtag #KeepFightingMichael as a trending plea on social media.
