The latest words in the grapevine reveal that the Houston Rockets could be trading Trevor Ariza for the Sacramento King's Rudy Gay. In the meantime, the Kings is planning to acquire Ricky Rubio mid-season.
The Houston Rockets and the Sacramento Kings are reportedly in talks for a possible deal involving Trevor Ariza and Rudy Gay, Sports Rageous reported, citing a local radio station discussion. In exchange for Rudy Gay, the Rockets is giving away its shooting guard Ariza, along with Corey Brewer and K.J. McDaniels.
Could it turn out to be true? Recently, Trevor Ariza has been named as the "teammate of the year" for Houston Rockets in the National Basketball Player's Association's 2016 Player's Voice Awards. According to The Dream Shake, the 31-year-old player remains one of the most versatile member of the Rockets and one of the most respected players in its roster. Sports analysts suggest that the Rockets should hold on to Ariza as he would remain to be a key component of the team's performance in the upcoming season. Trevor Ariza is among the best one-on-one defenders in the NBA. Last season, he finished 2.0 steals per game, his highest in his career. He also knocked down 37.1% of his three points, 25.5% from the field and 14.3% from beyond the arc. He's been consistent for the Rockets in the past two years.
Elsewhere in the NBA sphere, reports say that while Ricky Rubio is starting with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2016-2017 season, he is likely to be traded to the Sacramento Kings by mid-season. Chat Sports reported that Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500 said, "the Sacramento Kings are a team to watch...Keep an eye on the Sacramento Kings if slash when the Wolves decide to make a move on Ricky. But, again, nothing is imminent."
