'The Flash' & 'Supergirl' Crossover Air Date & News: Expect A Big Dance Number In The Musical Special

Fans of "The Flash" & "Supergirl" are expecting crossovers when these shows return on The CW. While a four-way crossover has been previously announced, to include "Arrow" and "Legend of Tomorrow," "The Flash" and "Supergirl" are preparing for a separate musical special crossover as well.

Comic Book reports that the 'The Flash' & 'Supergirl' crossover musical special will happen in early 2017. The production will also likely involve a big dance number between stars Melissa Benoist (Kara on "Supergirl") and Grant Gustin (Barry on "The Flash").

"The Flash" executive producer Todd Helbing spoke with IGN and said he would like to see the dance sequence happen, citing the talents of the ensemble of actors working on the show. "Let's go for it," said Helbing. "This year, in general, we're really swinging for the fences," he declared.

Fans have been asking for the musical event since it was made known that most of the actors on "The Flash" have beautiful voices and musical theater background. With "Supergirl" coming into The CW and shooting in the same locale as "The Flash," then carrying out a crossover episode is a lot easier to produce.

It won't be the first crossover for the shows as Kara and Barry have already met in the first season of "Supergirl." Variety reports that the Benoist and Grant have taken to singing on the set of their respective shows during breaks. Both actors also had their start on TV in the musical comedy "Glee" on Fox.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly reports that Black Flash might return on "The Flash" Season 3 in later episodes. Producers of the show supposedly loved working with actor Teddy Sears and acknowledged him as part of what makes the show a success.

As for "Supergirl," the cast and crew finally filmed their scenes with original Wonder Women Lynda Carter. Melissa Benoist posted a photo of the two of them together on Instagram. Lynda Carter is playing the president of the United States in "Supergirl" Season 2.

"The Flash" Season 3 begins its run on Oct. 4, while "Supergirl" Season 2 premieres on Oct. 8. Then, its new episodes will be ready for streaming on Netflix eight days following the original broadcast run on The CW.
