The twelfth season of "Supernatural" will feature Mary fighting evil alongside her sons Dean and Sam now that she was given a second chance at life by Amara, God's sister. New set photos confirmed that Mary is indeed picking up her blade again just like the old times, and it will get bloody straightaway.
Photos from the "Supernatural" set showed Mary (Samantha Smith) riding in the Impala, appearing to be at odds with her new surroundings but undoubtedly still comfortable with holding a lethal blade. There was also a picture of a wounded Mary appearing to be having a heart-to-heart talk with her firstborn.
Another set photo showcased Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins) lying on the pavement after an attack. Check out The CW's newly released "Supernatural" set photos on TVLine.
"Supernatural" Season 12 will open with Dean and Sam (Jared Padalecki) separated from each other. The latter was shot and captured by Lady Toni (Elizabeth Blackmore) of the British Men of Letters in Season 11.
Sam looks to be in a tight situation in the hands of the group, what with him tied on a chair while getting tortured by a blowtorch. Parent Herald previously reported that the younger Winchester believes that Dean died after saving the world and has no reason to think that his older brother would be coming to save him.
Dean will figure out that the Men of Letters is keeping Sam hostage and as expected, would do what it takes to save him. "Supernatural" executive producer Robert Singer said Dean's rescue mission won't take long and the Winchesters will be reunited quickly.
"Supernatural" co-showrunner Andrew Dabb said Toni is strongly "against Dean and Sam and has studied them and has very strong opinions about them, [which are] not positive," TVLine reported. Toni, however, will step down a bit given that the other members of the Men of Letters want to "take a different approach" with Dean and Sam. What that different approach means remains to be seen in the upcoming episodes.
Mary's return is not all sunshine and rainbows either. According to a separate report from TVLine, Mary will have a hard time accepting how her death resulted to her sons being hunters.
A "tricky" adjustment period is also on the line for the boys because for them, their mom is basically a "stranger." "Supernatural" Season 12 premieres on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9/8c on The CW.
