Lance Stephenson has been in the hot seat this summer due to no teams has ever shown any interest on him. Fortunately, he finally got a new home in New Orleans, where he will be teaming up with Anthony Davis the rest of the Pelicans.
After inviting on their basketball camp, the New Orleans Pelicans and Lance Stephenson eventually agreed to a contract to send him to the NBA training camp, according to the Basketball Insider. This would complete their current roster for the NBA training camp and would give Lance Stephenson a chance to play in the NBA season games.
Lance Stephenson signed a 3-year deal with the Charlotte Bobcats back in 2014 and was eventually traded to the Los Angeles Clippers after a year. Stephenson had an unsuccessful year with the Bobcats by only averaging 8.2 points per contest. Playing for the Clippers was even worse for Stephenson playing just around 15 minutes per night with an average of 4.7 points per game.
As per Inquisitor, Lance Stephenson's stats dropped due to lack of touches. Though his scoring distribution decreases, Stephenson still managed to have 21.1% player efficiency.
Lance Stephenson is a reliable perimeter defender or pretty much to say a great defender. Stephenson can also cover the driving lane preventing great finishers to dominate easily. Lance Stephenson's undeniable defensive and offensive skills earned him to be one of the top notch players during his stint with the Indiana Pacers.
With the New Orleans Pelicans taking the risk of acquiring Lance Stephenson, he can be a great backup shooting guard if he would manage to tag along with the Pelicans. New Orleans Pelicans are known to be a great organization, giving Jrue Holiday a no-end-date leave is one of a good example.
Lance Stephenson had now a chance to prove how worthy he is in the NBA. With just a couple of games in the NBA training camp, surely he can showcase his skills providing much greater efficiency.
