Netflix's newest Marvel spin-off, "The Punisher", have officially announced that "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" star Ben Barnes, will be part of the cast. He will be a regular in the series. He is now in HBO's Westworld.
According to Digital Trends, Ben Barnes might play the role of Bobby Saint. It was played by James Carpinello in the 2004 Marvel movie. He is a crime boss and will be the villain to Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle version of "The Punisher".
Bernthal's character was already introduced in "Daredevil" season 2 last March. After that, "The Punisher" was given the green light early April this year by Netflix. It will focus on Bernthal's character, Frank Castle. It will be produced by Steve Lightfoot, known for NBC's Hannibal. He will also write the first two episodes of the season.
"The Punisher" will be the sixth Netflix's Marvel series, the TV Line reported. They already have "Daredevil" with three seasons and "Jessica Jones" with two seasons. More upcoming series like "Luke Cage", "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders" are also from Marvel.
Collider stated that "The Punisher" will tackle more about the heroic world of Hell's Kitchen. It was shown in different Netflix series like the "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones". However, "The Punisher will focus on Frank Castle and Bobby saint. In the movie, Saint died early so fans are thinking as to how different the series will be from the movie itself. Also, another plot emerges as Bobby Saint's dad, Howard Saint, may be alive too.
The production of the series is yet to begun. Also, no official dates and confirmation of other casts has been reported. All these Marvel series on Netflix are connected and will premiere after one another. "The Punisher" might start after "Jessica Jones" season two and "The Defenders".
