‘Mindy Project’ Season 5 Cast & Spoilers: Mindy’s New Romance Is Jack Davenport?

"The Mindy Project" has booked Jack Davenport to guest star in the rom-com's fifth season. Reports say he is going to be the new love interest of Mindy Lahiri.

Jack Davenport is joining "The Mindy Project" Season 5, and he will catch Mindy's eyes. The "Smash" alum Davenport's character is named Leland Breakfast, an English theater actor. Mindy will first see him starring in a one-man show on Broadway. The Hollywood Reporter said Leland is known as the "bad boy of the West End."

And it looks like Mindy is going to have a hard time managing her love life. Her former boyfriends, Bill Hader, Anders Holm, and B.J. Novak, are all coming back in "The Mindy Project" Season 5. At the end of the fourth season, Mindy was trying to choose between her ex-fiance and baby daddy Danny (Chris Messina) and her co-worker Jody (Garrett Dillahunt). However, Chris Messina is going to be on a guest star role, so it seems that Danny-Mindy love team is not going to last.

Two weeks ago, TVLine also reported on the casting of Kimrie Lewis-Davis as reporter Ashley Davidson. Other than the name, the details of the role of the "Scandal" star are kept secret. Jack Davenport and Kimrie Lewis-Davis join the other upcoming guest stars including Bryan Greenberg, Nasim Pedrad and Rebecca Rittenhouse.

Bustle predicts that the fifth season is going to return to its rom-com roots, just like how it was in Season 1 and 2. Enough of the conflicts the third and fourth season brought. With a baby in the picture, Mindy's dating relationships will surely be different as well, and fans will see how that changes the story of the "selfish and flawed and sometimes hard to love" Mindy.

"The Mindy Project" Season 5 is set to premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 4, on Hulu.
