The second season of "Narcos" has been released on Netflix. This time, the story focused on the 18 months leading to the death of cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar. But being a story based on real life, there are real people who knew other parts of what really transpired during that times. One of which is Pablo Escobar's son, Sebastian Marroquin or Juan Pablo Escobar.
"Narcos" told the story of his father, and Marroquin watches the series with keen attention than any fan could probably give. After watching the show, Sebastian Marroquin has listed 28 inaccuracies, which he claims as "insults the history of an entire nation as well as many victims and families," as reported by Chron.
The deviation from actual events may have something to do with the creative part, of making the story more dramatic and appealing. But according to Marroquin, one of the grave errors is how the story depicted his uncle Carlos Henao. He said that his uncle "wasn't ever drug dealer or lived in Miami."
"He was kidnapped and tortured with Francisco Toro, another innocent man and decent. How sad that Netflix has shown so many corpses with the posters of los pepes hung up, and they forgot to publish the images of the body of my uncle Carlos tortured in that respect they were identical and also public," he wrote. He also said that his mother never held a gun, much more shot one.
Sebastian Marroquin, now 39, said that the show producers has never shown respect to his father in depicting his story. "The world is definitely upside-down, and history, it's clear, is told by anyone in any manner that pleases them. And on top of that, they prove to be popular without mattering how poorly told."
Marroquin has written a lot about his father, and according to Fox New Latino, he does have some credibility because he was already a teenager when his father was tracked down and shot in 1993.
