The Milwaukee Bucks look to build their team around the young Giannis Antetokounmpo and made him an offer that will definitely make him stay for the long run. The Bucks have offered the 21-year-old guard/ forward a $100 million dollar contract extension.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the four-year $100 million deal, which is almost a max contract, will be signed on Tuesday. By staying for four more years with the Milwaukee Bucks, Giannis could potentially bring the Bucks back into the playoff picture, a feat they accomplished in the 2014-2015 season. The Bucks are still a relatively young team, and could become a serious threat in a less than stacked Eastern Conference in the upcoming season with Giannis taking the lead.
Giannis has shown a lot of promise over the years, developing his all-around game, including his ball handling skills and jump shooting. The "Greek Freak" has recently transitioned from his wing position to the point guard spot and almost averaged a triple double in the latter half of the 2015-2016 regular season. While Giannis is still a work in progress, it won't be long before he becomes a potential all-star, given his growth and athleticism. After playing only 3 seasons in the NBA, Giannis has already poised himself to carry the torch for the Milwaukee Bucks in the coming years, with his development steadily increasing, the sky is the limit for the Bucks' young talent.
According to Business Insider, the $100 million dollar contract extension for Giannis was a smart move, as the salary cap in the coming years increasing to $102 million, they would have a future superstar on their hands at a discounted price. With Giannis adding some decent ball-handling that moved him to the guard spot in just over a season, there's no telling what he will be able to develop into in the coming years.
The rest of the Milwaukee Bucks roster still remains a huge question mark, but if coach Jason Kidd can put all of the pieces he gathered over the summer together, then the Bucks could have quite the run in the 2016-2017 NBA season.
