Konami recently released a 15-minute long gameplay demo trailer for the next installment in the "Metal Gear" series, the coop multiplayer "Metal Gear Survive," with fan and viewer reaction to the video surging up the dislike button that could place it as a runner-up to the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" reveal trailer.
Tokyo Game Show 2016 happened just over the past weekend, with one of the main presentations at the convention being a 15-minute long gameplay demo of Konami's new "Metal Gear Survive." The publisher shared the demo on YouTube, only for fans to react in a rather volatile fashion to express their disdain for the game as reported via Kotaku.
The video shows a full mission undertaken by four players working in conjunction to take out the new crystalline zombie enemies of "Metal Gear Survive" to take over a base. After successfully infiltrating the structure, the players then began fortifying their defenses to try and stand against waves of increasing hordes of zombies only to fail and have to pull out in the end.
When Kotaku reported on the subject, the "Metal Gear Survive" gameplay demo trailer had over 1000 likes and about 14, 000 dislikes with half a million views. As of about 8:30 PM PST, the amount of dislikes against the "Metal Gear Survive" demo sit at just a little below 20, 000 presses of the button.
Many of the fans are reacting negatively towards Konami itself for how they perceive it is treating their beloved "Metal Gear" franchise, with many questioning the new direction that Konami is taking the series in "Metal Gear Survive." Others however, expressed less volatile sentiments and commented that the game could work only not as a "Metal Gear" installment.
The "Metal Gear Survive" trailer dislike phenomenon is similar to what happened to the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" reveal trailer. The trailer garnered similarly garnered so much hate, with statistics currently sitting at more than 500, 000 likes against a whopping 3.2 million dislikes.
Only time will tell if "Metal Gear Survive" ends up in a similar point to "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." "Metal Gear Survive will release to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC some time in 2017.
