NBC's daytime soap "Days of Our Lives" is bringing back an old character in the canvass. Vanessa Williams has been cast as Dr. Valerie Grant. Meanwhile, Jen Lilley has confirmed she is still airing in November, and Greg Vaughan is returning as Eric Brady.
In April, "Days of Our Lives" released a casting call for Dr. Valerie Grant, a character involved in an interracial romance back in the 1970s. According to Deadline, Valerie returns still having that courage and perseverance she had back then. Now, she is a well-respected cardiologist.
When she comes back, she is going to reunite with her former love, Abe Carver, which is played by James Reynolds. DAYS spoilers tease reveal that Abe would be Valerie's patient. Clyde (James Read) shot Abe, and he would need a specialist to look after him, so it's likely to be part of the storyline that Dr. Grant will be involved in.
"Days of Our Lives" spoilers via Celebrity Dirty Laundry also tease that Abe and Valerie might rekindle their old flame. That is something that won't come good for Theo (Kyler Pettis), who will show his disapproval in their relationship.
Vanessa Williams' legacy character will be seen again for the first time in many years in "Days of Our Lives" on Oct. 25. Vanessa Williams has a recurring role on "The Flash" and a lead role in "The Secret She Kept." She is also known for her characters in "The Bay," "Candyman," and "Melrose Place."
In a related DAYS casting news, Jen Lilley, who has earlier confirmed that she was leaving DAYS, revealed that she is still airing through November. "[A] lot more #Thrady ahead!" she teased.
Greg Vaughan is also coming back to Salem as Eric Brady, as reported by Soaps In Depth. Vaughan left "Days of Our Lives" earlier this year when he pursued an opportunity to star in the series "Queen Sugar." His return is expected to be on Jan. 17 next year.
Catch "Days of Our Lives" from Monday to Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
