The release of the Nintendo NX has been reportedly delayed, and the company has been silent about the console which leaves many people speculating about the exact date of release. Some might say that Nintendo may pull a surprise while the others are not really that much optimistic.
People are saying that this year is not a good year for the Nintendo NX to debut mainly because people are too much in anticipation for Microsoft's Project Scorpio and Sony's new offering of the PS4. Nintendo may in fact get lost in the shuffle if it ever decides to release it.
It also does not help knowing that Nintendo had a disappointing performance with the Wii U, and the Nintendo NX is supposed to be its comeback console. However, Nintendo does not seem to be ignored as of the moment as it maintains to be one of the gaming giants that the world recognizes.
Forbes explains that there are three things wrong with Nintendo's plan to announce this year: First, announcing on a busy holiday season and not releasing on the same season puts a bad taste on the market. Second, announcing and releasing in a gap of less than six months is not a good idea; and lastly, releasing a console by March is just too odd.
On a lighter side of things, Value Walk explains that this delay might be a blessing in disguise for the struggling giant. This delay could allow a window of opportunity for Nintendo to announce at a time where the hype for the other consoles (i.e. Project Scorpio, PS4) had gradually died down as it will allow the Nintendo NX to shine by itself.
Critics have suggested that the company should announce on January, and release the console some time around June just right after the E3 event. Nintendo could capitalize on the summer season which is usually empty for video game releases, and that it could be the story that breaks the summer season.
