The hit drama series "Stranger Things" is gearing up for its second season, and there are a couple of new characters fans will meet. The most recent additions to the cast are Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery. Meanwhile, the Duffer Brothers talked about a couple of changes and a few things fans could expect in Season 2.
Sadie Sink, known for her role in "American Odyssey," and Dacre Montgomery, popularly known from "Power Rangers," have just landed a role in "Stranger Things" Season 2. According to TVLine, Sadie Sink is going to play Max while Dacre Montgomery will portray as Max's brother Billy. Max is described as a tough and confident girl. She appears and behaves more like a boy than a girl, and is often suspicious of people around her.
Billy, on one hand, is described as a hyper-confident and edgy older step-brother. He likes to steals girlfriends from their boyfriends. He's not the one to lose in drinking games. Beneath his charisma, Billy has a tendency for violence.
Meanwhile, Joe Keery and Noah Schnapp have been promoted as series regulars. Aside from Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery, there's another new face joining the gang, which is yet to be announced. The third role would be for a character named Roman, described as a male or a female of any ethnicity between the ages of 30 and 38.
"There's definitely a handful of really compelling new characters this season, but absolutely servicing the core group first and foremost. Like the show itself, it's multigenerational new characters and really, really intriguing ones," executive producer Shawn Levy said as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
As for what to expect in "Stranger Things" Season 2, co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer revealed that the sophomore season of the breakout 1980s drama will explore the Upside Down world more. The brothers also talked about further expanding their mythology given the limitless possibilities as the story ventures more on the alternate dimension, as reported by E! News.
"Stranger Things" Season 2 will have nine episodes, one episode longer than the first season, and this time, things will steadily build from episode to episode. "And what we're actually able to do the second season is ramp it up like a coaster that just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and it builds to this big, climactic finale," the brothers said.
"Stranger Things" Season 2 premieres in 2017 on Netflix.
