The prominent early 2000s game, "Red Faction," may be coming back for a PlayStation 4 rerelease, if its Pan European Game Information (PEGI) rating were to be based. The classic PlayStation 2 game has been rated PEGI 16, but there is no word yet if it will come out with a completely different content.
Game Rant reports that NeoGaf users spotted a PEGI rating for the 2003 Volition game, "Red Faction." This gives a strong impression that the cult favorite first-person shooter title might be coming back for either being ported or remastered. Aside from the PEGI 16 rating, which would be followed soon by United States' Entertainment Software Rating Board, no other confirmation nor information was released by "Red Faction" publisher, THQ Nordic.
Should "Red Faction" come out for its PS4 release, it will be the second THQ title to have been rated for PS4, as "The Destroy All Humans" series was the first THQ title to be PS4-rated. Moreover, "Red Faction" being remastered may not really be a stir after all, since the title is nearing its 15th anniversary. Dual Shockers reported that the game publisher has been trying to remaster several PlayStation 2 classics.
Just over a week ago, "Red Faction" has been removed from the banned video games list in Germany. According to Game Spot, German owners of the Sony console can now play the 2075 futuristic shooting game set in Mars.
"Red Faction" is not the only title banned for German consumption as other games like "Fall Out 3," "Wolfenstein: The New Order," and even "Doom" (which was restricted for 17 years) have already received a green light from the European country's Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons.
Last updated title of the THQ game was "Red Faction: Armageddon," which was released in 2011. Other titles under the "Red Faction" series include "Red Faction II" and "Red Faction: Guerrilla."
