‘Twin Peaks’ News & Update: Season 3 Confirmed? What Should Fans Need To Know? Find Out Here

"Twin Peaks," the 1990 hit TV serial drama, has been confirmed for a third season though no official release date has been announced. The TV show created by Mark Frost and David Lynch is said to be back with most of the original casts in the second quarter of 2017. The plot is believed to pick up 25 years from the death of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee), a homecoming queen in the fictional town of Twin Peaks who was murdered and left in a river bank with her naked body wrapped in plastic.

"Twin Peaks" Season 3 is slated to be aired on Showtime in the United States and fans from the United Kingdom could also enjoy the show through Sky Atlantic, Digital Spy reported. Apart from the old characters, "Twin Peaks" Creator Frost also revealed that new faces will be seen in the new season. Could this mean more people are involved in the mysteries surrounding the dark woods of Twin Peaks?

"Twin Peaks" storyline followed FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) in his investigation on Laura's murder case. Agent Cooper discovered that there are supernatural beings that existed in the town of Twin Peaks who possessed humans to do their bidding. Agent Co0per also found out the existence of two-dimensional realms called White Lodge and Black Lodge located within the dark woods of Twin Peaks where the supernatural beings came from.

To recall, "Twin Peaks" Season 2 finale ended with a cliffhanger showing Laura's supernatural killer, Killer Bob, possessing Agent Cooper's body. Agent Cooper had to enter the Black Lodge to save his love interest, Annie Blackburn (Heather Graham) but the Agent Cooper who went out from the Black Lodge was no longer the real Agent Cooper, Movie Pilot reported. It remains to be seen what happens to Agent Cooper now that his real self is trapped inside the Black Lodge on "Twin Peaks" Season 3.

"Twin Peaks" Season 3 storyline, however, has not been confirmed as of this posting. Will Agent Cooper survive in the Black Lodge and what is Killer Bob up to this time? In the meantime, check out the featurette of "Twin Peaks" Season 3 below.
