'Half Life 3' Release News, Latest Updates: Valve Has Quest Citizen, Spy Grenade, Zipline, AI Override Coming For VR Compatible Sequel?

Valve may be keeping mum on "Half Life 3," but trails point to a quest system, zipline and AI override coming into the new "HL." Valve fans waiting for founder Gabe Newell to drop "Half Life 3," have had to sit through daunting lack of official updates.

However, "Half Life 3" trails have been very telling. May 22, 2016 was the 10th year after Valve dropped an official announcement that "Half-Life 2: Episode Three" of Gordon Freeman's chronicles is coming. "Half-Life 2: Episode Three" faded out of the picture with no explanation from Valve.

"HL" fans believed then that "Half-Life 2: Episode Three" was canceled to make way for "Half Life 3." Even then Valve remained silent even over the continued probability of "Half Life 3" happening.

The last official sign of life on the "Half Life" franchise came with the 2007 release of "Half-Life 2: Episode Two" by Valve. Unofficial hints and leaks on "Half Life 3" continues hope that Gabe Newell as his team at Valve continue to with development of the mythical "HL."

The Valve News Network channel at YouTube indicates that "Half Life 3" leaks point to a Quest Citizen and special spy grenade. Game Spot, on the other hand, reports that "Half Life 3" adds not just a zipline but also an override of the default AI.

The media agency reports that files were gleaned from Dota 2 apparently linked to "Half Life 3." These "Half Life 3" files were hl3.txt, rpg.txt and ai_basenpc.txt. Parent Herald cites reports that "Half Life 3" will not only be open-world. "Half Life 3" is also believed to be VR compatible.

Likely, though, that Valve will announce a "Half Life 3" release date when significant technology change becomes available to the Valve franchise. As Parent Herald points out, the first "Half Life" iteration and "Half Life 2" both hit significant technological and gameplay milestones.
