With the flood of reboots and remakes in the movie industry this century, it is only a matter of time until Sylvester Stallone's iconic "Rambo" will have its own version.
The "Rambo" reboot has been picked up by Nu Image/Millennium Films. We can recall that Nu Image was behind the Expendables film series beginning with the "Expendables" (2010) starring of course none other than the character actor of "John Rambo" Sylvester Stallone.
Now that Nu Image will be producing the "Rambo" reboot, Ariel Vromen is said direct "Rambo: New Blood" with a younger John Rambo. According to Hollywood Reporter, Nu Image/Millennium Films is looking at Rambo as a character parallel to that of James Bond.
The Israeli director and screenwriter Vromen is best known for his 2012 film "The Iceman" starring Michael Shannon, Chris Evans, and James Franco. Vromen also directed the American science fiction action crime thriller "Criminal" (2016) with an A-list cast including Kevin Costner, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot.
Meanwhile, Brooks McLaren was tapped to work on the "Rambo" reboot. Previously, Warner Bros. asked McLaren to rewrite "Line of Sight." He also wrote the disaster script "How It Ends."
The "Rambo" reboot wouldn't be complete without its main actor. However, "Rambo: New Blood" will not star the iconic film series actor Sylvester Stallone, despite him being known as "Rambo" for years, even decades. The studio hasn't revealed any further details regarding the "Rambo" reboot but this will be the first Rambo movie not starring Stallone.
The supposed fourth and final installment of the "Rambo" film series was released in 2008. "Rambo" (2008) was directed, written, and starred by Sylvester Stallone. Stallone reprised his iconic role as John Rambo in "Rambo" (2008). In an interview, Stallone said that he was happy to end the role on a high note (in reference to "Rambo" (2008)).
"There's nothing left," Stallone said. "When they asked me to do another Rambo, I said, "If I can't do better than I did last time, and I can't, then why?"
The resurrection of another "Rambo" film has been planned for years in either film or TV series. In 2014, Stallone was planning to make "Rambo: Last Blood." Then, there were rumors of a TV series adaptation for Fox, also titled "Rambo: New Blood," following John Rambo and his long-lost son.
Well, with news of the film "Rambo: New Blood," the TV series could be as good as cancelled.
On another news, Sylvester Stallone posed with his favorite boxer Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao during one of the boxing champ's sparring sessions at the Wild Card Gym, Las Vegas.
