The PlayStation 4 Pro will launch next week, Nov. 10. The new console promises a better and smoother gaming experience and is twice as fast as the current PS4.
The PS4 Pro, unlike the Xbox One S, doesn't come with a 4K ready Blu-ray player. It weighs 3.3kg, which is a lot heavier than the current consoles and has a price tag of $399.00. To keep up with the PS4 Pro's specifications, most games will be receiving an update.
The current list of games confirmed to receive the updates includes the following: "Battlezone," "Call of Duty," "Modern Warfare," "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided," "Elder Scrolls Online," "Fallout 4," "Gran Turismo Sport," "Hitman," "Horizon Zero Dawn," "Infamous: Second Son," "Killing Floor 2," "Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor," "NBA 2K17," "NIOH," "Paragon," Ratchet and Clank," "Thumper," "Titanfall 2," "Viking Squad," and "The Witness," as tracked by Gamespot. The updates will go live after the PS4 Pro launch event.
The upcoming updates will depend on the game developer or the type of game, some games will receive a total layer overhaul like "Hitman" that will have "a whole new layer of details added to it." It will also have an increase in its overall resolution, and the aliasing will be reduced. Other titles like "Infamous: Second Son" and "Thumper" will just receive the 4K resolution update but no upscaling.
One of the games that are not going to receive an update is "The Witcher III," which is among CD Projekt Red's biggest titles. CD Projekt Red explained that "Since we want to fully focus on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent, and converting 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' from a full HD game into a 4K one would be too much of a time and resource-consuming process, we decided not to release an edition of Wild Hunt supporting the new features of PlayStation Pro."
The PS4 Pro is one of Sony's most advanced gaming system to date. Switching to a Pro would be like giving up a bag of candy in exchange for a bag of chocolates, same sweetness but different sensations.
