At the time, there is no book as wanted as George RR Martin's "The Winds of Winter." Unfortunately, the sixth book of "A Song of Ice and Fire" is long overdue. Reports have it that the continuous delay of "The Winds of Winter" is due to GRRM's inefficient writing style.
George RR Martin delivers an epic saga in the first five "ASOIAF" books. Many are expecting too much from "The Winds of Winter." Avid fans are not pressuring GRRM to finish the book so long as he can keep the quality of his writing.
However, some "TWOW" fans are already losing their patience. The "ASOIAF" fans have been waiting for "The Winds of Winter" for five years and counting and up to now, the book is still not in the bookshelves.
According to Ty Franck, George RR Martin's former assistant and author of "The Expanse," the brain behind the successful "Game of Thrones" series has an ineffective writing method.
Per Ty Franck, the "The Winds of Winter" author just sit on his computer and type whatever comes to his mind. "That just seems like a really inefficient way to get a story out, from my perspective," Ty Franck said of GRRM's writing method per Winter Is Coming. He added that GRRM is more comfortable rewriting chapters.
Of course, rewriting takes time and this could be one reason for the possible delay of "The Winds of Winter." George RR Martin said earlier that there are days when he just writes and days when just go through his script and rewrite it or scrap it.
However, aside from sharing George RR Martin's approach in writing "The Winds of Winter," Ty Franck cleared the rumors that the "ASOIAF" author is still using an old DOS computer. GRRM used to write in an old DOS but the "TWOW" author has already moved on and is already using a state-of-the-art machine that runs in DOS and WordStar 4.0.
Despite the advantages that the Internet offer, Ty Franck disclosed that George RR Martin works offline. The "The Winds of Winter" scribe is reportedly afraid that someone will hack his work. The "GoT" creator is also not taking chances of getting "TWOW" a virus.
