"Hunters Gate," an exclusive game developed for the upcoming VR device from Google called "Daydream," just recently released its gameplay trailer. Is "Daydream" a threat in the VR market?
When Samsung launched the Samsung Gear VR, Climax Studios was one of the developers who created what came to be one of the best-selling games for the gear which were the Bandit Six series. The Studio has once again created another game specifically for the Google Daydream called "Hunters Gate." Hunters Gate is an arcade shooter set in a medieval stage where demons are the main target. The game features co-op mode wherein a friend can join in on the action. The game will be available together with the Daydream View, according to VRFocus.
Google's Daydream View is basically what it says, it's a VR device designed to accommodate a smartphone. The Daydream has a separate controller, which is equipped with sensors to match the player's hand movement. Another notable feature of Daydream is that it's crafted from fabric and is completely washable, not to mention that its 30 percent lighter than the competition.
Daydream, however, can only support specific smartphones. Google's Pixel is currently the only phone compatible with the device. Unlike other VRs, Google Daydream's Virtual Reality platform is built directly into the Android 7 OS instead of an app. The Daydream is said to be available on Nov. 10 thru the Google Store with a price tag of $79 or £69, according to an article by the Mirror UK.
With the growing market on VR, it seems that apple still has not yet ventured into this market. Could it be that Apple just like the very first iPhone is just observing and is already perfecting their own entry into the VR world? Another possibility is that Apple is not interested in the VR market. Sooner or later those questions will be answered.
