'Star Wars' News & Updates: Latest Trailer of "Rogue One" Features Ultimate Weapon Of Destruction

The Death Star -- the ultimate weapon of destruction built by the empire is featured in the upcoming "Star Wars: Rogue One". Lucas Films released a new trailer featuring the weapon of destruction, and "Star Wars" fans will be interested to see how the Death Star can be sustained using fuels from another planet.

The "Rogue One" trailer does not clearly show all the details about the Death Star connection, but we do know that Jyn's father, Galen, is one of its builders. Jyn's mother is seen giving her a small crystal pendant and reminds her to trust only the "Force". Jyn holds onto the crystal as she grows older and finds herself in trouble in a galaxy far, far away from home later on.

Kyber crystals are used to power up the Death Star's super laser after the defeat of the Jedi Order. Since the battleship is not yet functional, the weapon cannot be powered to its maximum capacity due to the unlimited supply of these crystals. But the players have plans to make this work if not intercepted by the enemies.

Some "Rogue One" scenes take place in Jedha, a planet described as "holy land" for the patronized religion around the Force. It is also where the crystals are mined. The Imperial Force must set up a shop there presumably for that purpose.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the stars of the movie include Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker.

Allison Shearmur, Kathleen Kennedy, and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin as executive producers. "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be in the movie theaters on December 16, 2016, Collider reports.
