After its fifth season, The Walking Dead cast will be joined by new cast members. Corey Hawkins, Ethan Embry and Merritt Wever will star for season 6, Huffington Post reports. The first exclusive photos were released by AMC through Entertainment Weekly.
In a tweet from Entertainment Weekly, Hawkins and Embry will play as Heath and Carter. Wever will be playing the role of Alexandrian Dr. Denise Cloyd. Huffington Post notes the importance of Dr. Cloyd to the story as her medical skills are crucial to Alexandria, especially after what happened between Pete and Rick.
Huffington Post also writes that season 5 was the best season so far as it was filled with excitement and anticipation towards the death of major characters. Den of Geek listed all the characters who survived and died during the bloody and gruesome episodes of the fifth season. One of the show's producers, Denise Huth, admitted that half of the season was "dark" and "sad".
With Dr. Cloyd joining the cast, Alexandria might see some bright light. It also adds fire to the circling speculation about Carl Grimes getting shot and losing his eye, just like what has been written in the graphic novel. [Spoiler alert!]
Den of Geek describes Carl as a "sweet kid buried beneath his dirty flannel and dirtier hair." However, this sweetness fades when he lost his substitute father, mother, baby sister and moral center. He lost his innocence after getting shot and watching his dad turn into madness and savagery. Despite these circumstances, Carl made it through and will still be seen in season 6.
The young character is a favorite for zombie attacks, but in the next season, Huffington Post reports that the young boy will lose his right eye. Apart from that, he will also lose his recent memories and probably his life. This moment was foreshadowed in season 4 when he found a painting of a lady with her right eye crossed out.
Us Weekly also states that season 6 will feature the wolves, which appeared in the previous season.
As for the other happenings in "The Walking Dead" season 6, the show's executive producer, Gale Anne Hurd, said that the connection between the prequel and the original series is yet to be revealed. "We're following entirely different characters in an entirely new setting," she said.
As per Comingsoon.net, "The Walking Dead" season 6 will premiere on October 11.
