'Star Wars Battlefront 2’ News & Updates: Game Needs Single Player Campaign To Compensate For The Previous Installment?

With all the "Star Wars Battlefront 2" updates and rumors circulating the web, most players are still stuck up with the question as to why the previous installment doesn't have a Campaign Mode. Fans are clamouring for more of the iconic "Star Wars" game.

During EA's 2013 E3 conference, the first teaser of "Star Wars Battlefront" hyped the crowd. "Star Wars Battlefront" was supposed to be the third installment in the "Battlefront" series. However, DICE wants to put their own mark and that the new game is going to be "DICE's interpretation of what Battlefront should be," according to Patrick Söderlund, EA Games Label boss during an interview with Eurogamer.

The "Star Wars Battlefront" game utilized EA's Frostbite 3 engine. This is the same engine used to develop the company's biggest titles like the "Battlefield" series and "Medal of Honor."

EA was able to maintain the anticipation of the gaming community by feeding them bits of information every now and then. During EA's 2014 E3 press conference, "Star Wars Battlefront" was the opening spiel. The video showcased DICE's effort to make the experience as authentic as possible. Though the presentation did not contain any gameplay footage, the audience was still hopeful of the outcome.

Early 2015, EA scheduled a November 17, 2015, launch date. Sometime in August, EA announced that "Star Wars Battlefront" will not have a Campaign Mode. According to EA's COO Peter Moore, "Very few people actually play the single-player on these kinds of games. That's what the data points to," based on an article by IBT.

An open "Star Wars Battlefront" BETA was then released in October the same year with over 9.5 million players. This was EA's largest BETA, based on an article by Gamespot.

"Star Wars" is one of the biggest franchise in the entertainment industry. Making a "Star Wars" game without a single player campaign is like making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the jelly. The upcoming "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" needs to be complete with an amazing single-player campaign to compensate for the disappointment caused by the previous "Star Wars Battlefront."
