One of the coolest unveiling this week was the Audi R8 "Star of Lucis" edition. "The Star of Lucis" was featured in "Final Fantasy XV's Kingsglaive" as the royal family's main transport.
"The Star of Lucis" is a one of kind vehicle brought from the digital world and into the real world through the collaboration of Square Enix and Audi. The $469,000 vehicle is powered by a 5.2-liter R8 V10 engine that generates 610 PS and is mated with a dual-clutch, 7-speed S tronic® transmission to efficiently accelerate the R8 from zero to 100km/h in an exhilarating 3.2 second.
"The Star of Lucis" is coated with Ultrossic black to represent the light of the Lucis Royal Family and coats the great crystal. The body is decorated with the Arabesque pattern of the Tenebrae oracle clan which confers peace, blessings, and well-being on the Kingdom of Lucis. The intricately crafted wheel represents the Kingdom of Lucis emblem with finely sculpted swords, the symbols of true mastery, brandished amid rose-like petals.
"The Star of Lucis" steering wheel is wrapped in fine leather that gently clings to the palms and features orange stitching carefully placed to enhance tactile pleasure. Audio is delivered by an advanced Bang & Olufsen sound system complete with a fully digital Audi virtual cockpit. The vehicle is also equipped with Audi connect® which provides Internet access with Audi connect Navigator, based on the actual specification of the vehicle by Audi.
This is the only car manufactured by Audi with the specifications fit for "Final Fantasy XV" royal family. The "Star of Lucis" will be sold to one customer via raffle on November 21, 2016, at 10:00 am in Japan, and it will not come with a copy of "Final Fantasy XV," according to an article by Kotaku.
Square Enix is reinforcing a "Fantasy based on reality" theme for the "Final Fantasy' series and collaborating with real-world brands like Audi is one way of achieving that goal." "Final Fantasy XV" is designed to become a multimedia platform.
The game's storyline covers the most of the entertainment's major industry, from the video game, CGI animation, animated series, and music. Bringing the "Star of Lucis" to the real world is Square Enix's way of letting someone (who can afford it) experience a piece of the fantasy world they created. They say money can't buy happiness or love but it can surely get anyone the satisfaction of owning this one of a kind masterpiece.
