A brand new video of the PlayStation exclusive game "Horizon Zero Dawn" was recently unleashed into the public. The video showcased the game's managing director and art director's opinions and challenges in the creating the most ambitious upcoming open world game of Guerrilla.
"Horizon Zero Dawn" is Guerrilla's first project that involves an open world environment. The game's managing director Helmen Hurst describes Horizon Zero Dawn as an RPG that plays like an action game. The game's environment is composed of five "ecotopes" equipped with a dynamic weather system together with a full day and night cycle according to Jan-Bart Van Beek who's the game's art director.
Announced during E3 2015, "Horizon Zero Dawn" was considered as the "biggest surprise" during the conference. The game was nominated for Best of Show, Best Original Game, Best Console Game and Best Action/Adventure Game, which eventually bagged the Best Original Game during the Best of E3's Game Critic's Awards.
"Horizon Zero Dawn" takes place in a post-apocalyptic era a thousand years from the fall of man's civilized world. The main character is an aspiring hunter named "Aloy," who was raised by a tribe as an outcast. Aloy is going to be the player's main avatar in exploring the vast environment occupied by robots called "Machines" and discover the secrets of the past. Some of Aloy's abilities includes, archery, hacking into the machines for her advantage, loot corpses, setting traps and the use of explosives in the form of traps.
Guerrilla Games is known for" Killzone," which is also a PlayStation exclusive. The transition from a first person shooter set in a dark industrial environment was Guerrilla's biggest challenge. Looking at the game's current progress, it is safe to say that the game's development is at full speed. "Horizon Zero Dawn's" scheduled release is on March 1, 2017, and March 3, 2017, in the UK, according to Helmen Hurst.
