‘Doctor Strange’ Nails Box Office Stays On Top With $43 Million, ‘Arrival’ Impressive?

"Doctor Strange" beat all the odds at the Box Office when it retained its first spot, in two consecutive weeks. It is definitely an assurance of Disney's record-breaking 2016. Benedict Cumberbatch, stars the Disney and Marvel film.So far, it grossed $43m just from Friday to Sunday.

Jeff Bock, a box-office analyst credits the enormous lead to the people getting fed up with politics and wanted to switch their moods into family reality. The Veteran's Day break also contributes to boosting more ticket sales, says Variety.

Fox and Dreamworks' "Trolls" got the second place. It took around $35 m sales with a slight decrease of 24.8 percent in revenue for the following week, according to BBC. "Arrival" is in third place, that outpaces pre-release tracks gaining $24 million initially.

Kyle Davies, Paramount's head of distribution attested that the movie itself is the best kind of advertisement for it to flourish.Denis Villeneuve is the director of "Arrival". Next to that on fourth place is "Almost Christmas" by Universal. It gained $15.6 million in 2,376 locations. It's about a dysfunctional family's reunion after the mother's death with only $17 million budget. Quite a comedy for people looking for a good laugh.

"Hacksaw Ridge" from Lionsgate concluded the top five. It earns a total of $32.3 million for the war drama. Pretty timely indeed for Veteran's Day attracting the patriotic crowd. EuropaCorp's "Shut In" managed to bag $3.7 million from the 2,058 locations. Quite a good start for the $10 million film.

Sony Pictures Classics' "Elle" excels among the limited versions and got $56,012 from two screens. It is a thrilling account of a rape victim starring Isabelle Huppert avenging her ordeal against her rapist. "Moonlight," that deals with sexuality, continues to make an impression.
