During Apple's big event earlier this year to unveil its latest lineup of iPhones, the iPad Pro tablets seemed to be missing. It was anticipated that next iteration of Apple's tablet, the iPad Pro 2, would also get a share of the spotlight along with its smaller siblings, the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.
The absence of the iPad Pro 2 could possibly indicate Apple is reviving up to match its competitors primarily Microsoft's Surface Pro series which could ultimately replace your laptop as reviewed by Techradar. According to Mobipicker, The iPad Pro tablets have never been advertised as productivity devices but have instead been geared toward casual usage.
The 12.9 inch iPad Pro despite its size was never seen as a replacement to the MacBook Air. With the apparent delay of the iPad Pro, here are a few things that the iPad Pro need to work on to keep up with the competition:
Better Multi-tasking
One of the must-haves of productivity is the ability to multi-task, the ability to have many applications open at the same time is a useful feature. The 12.9 inch iPad Pro introduced the split-screen which has been helpful but not without its limitations. If the iPad Pro 2 is to remain competitive this is one area it needs to work on.
Improved Keyboard and Apple Pencil
The MacBook Air had a savvy keyboard that felt very comfortable and easy to use. Apparently, the Smart Keyboard on the iPad Pro seemed inferior to the level of quality expected from an Apple product.
The iPad Pro 2 needs to have a consistent keyboard experience with the MacBook to reduce or silence its critics. The Apply Pencil has also received its share of criticism. Some users have considered the stylus a fun addition to the device but not exactly a productivity device.
An Improved OS
This is perhaps one of the biggest issues of the iPad Pro. Microsoft's Surface Pro tablets boast of having a full-fledged Windows OS and all the bells and whistles that come along with it.
The iPad Pro, unfortunately, uses an iOS which includes all the limitations that come with that mobile OS. The iPad Pro 2 should consider using the MacOS if it is to compete with the productivity prowess of Microsoft's tablets.
No official word has been heard from Apple regarding the release of the iPad Pro 2. It is likely that the release of this anticipated device will be announced early next year.
