‘La La Land’ Movie Update: Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone Open Up About Their Third Onscreen Romance

"The Great Disconnect" is not the title of the movie. It is the critics' description of "La La Land," the so-called almost musical show since there are not enough musical varieties in it. The comments are not surprising however since it is an Oscar awardee despite the criticisms.

"La La Land" is a $30 million movie production and struggles to reach a wider audience necessary for the return of the investment. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were excellent casts but they are spreading themselves too thin while also appearing on two previous projects, Deadline noted.

Stone needs a pat on the back after "La La Land" premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. Director Damien Chazelle's choice to be different from other musicals got a rhapsodic response. It may have followed the format of the usual MGM musicals but very modern considering the flamboyant opening featuring the L.A. freeway of all places.

The start just got the best actress award at the Venice Film Festival for Mia, a neophyte actress who's in love with a jazz pianist, who happens to be, Sebastian (Gosling). Despite the "City of Dreams" victory, they do not know each other in the beginning during the "Crazy, Stupid, Love" audition. He was already in the cast as the crazy womanizer.

Director Chazelle may have something to do with their constant partnership as he woos great musical artists for his projects including Emma Watson and the likes Not only that, he is honing scripts for a good pit and denies the rumors that money is a big consideration in casting artists.

Lionsgate chooses, to be honest with the nature of the film. It may be different but it's because it has a somewhat modern sense of originality. So much for the critics, the good thing with the movie is, it is charming to the right people ad it has its own magic that made it irresistible to them. It will just be a matter of time when 'La La Land' is finally viewed by a larger but traditional viewership, according to Variety.
