'Super Mario Run’ Release Date: Nintendo Game To Launch Exclusively On Apple's iPhone And iPad?

Another Nintendo game is making its way into the iOS. "Super Mario Run," a 2d side scrolling game, will make its debut on Dec. 15, 2016, on Apple's iPhone and iPad.

"Super Mario Run" features Nintendo's mascot and most popular character Mario. The game, modeled after the classic Mario games, can be downloaded for free to play for some of the levels. Unlocking the full "Super Mario Run" game will cost $10. The new game will be available in 151 countries on its initial launch and will come equipped with 10 languages that include English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian and traditional Chinese, according to Engadget's article.

The game requires the Apple device to have at least the iOS 8.0 version. "Super Mario Run" is an endless runner game. Endless runner means that the character is always on the move and tapping the screen of the smart device will execute actions like jumping and changing direction. The main goal of this game is help Mario acquire as many coins as he can in a time pressured level.

A new battle mode was also added into the gameplay called toad rally. Toad rally enables the player to challenge or break the high scores established by his peers or any other player online. "Super Mario Run" is a well-polished game and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, the level transitions based on the video is very smooth which creates a seamless gameplay experience and for the first time can be played using one hand.

A recent update from Kotaku states that they have received a message from Nintendo saying that they also intend to release the game on Android devices some time in the future. Although no date was given, it is nice to know that Nintendo has not forgotten the remaining 80% of the smartphone market, which is composed of Android users.
