The problem to do a remake of "The Crow" is more serious now than losing a director or the main actor. The production company initiating the project, Relativity Media has no more rights to do such remake! "The Naturally, the Reboot has again failed to take off just when everything is already set.
Davis Films, Electric Shadow, and Highland Film Group are now the owner of the rights to the Crow film franchise and now working towards producing,"The Crow" Reborn. Samuel Hadida, Davis Films head, and its producer was also instrumental in the making of Resident Evil and Silent Hill franchises.
Corin Hardy supposed to be the director andJason Momoa was supposed to play the anti-hero under Relativity. But it is now uncertain under the new merger. Luke Evans also cast but backed out after no progress was done. Jack Huston took his place but it did not pursue due to Relativity's state of bankruptcy, says Cinema Blend.
F. Javier Gutiérrez and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo were two directors who abandoned "The Crow" previously too. Jason Momoa had accepted the role of Eric Draven and director, Corin Hardy has signed up again. As of now, this is the current status but there's no visible green light yet.
In fairness to Relativity, it made attempts to continue the production in 2015 sometime in April despite being bankrupt. "The Crow" Reboot is by far the company's greatest valuable asset but the process of saving the company did not happen quickly that it has to be sold to interested parties. Good thing, there are good takers.
"The Crow" Reborn is now a property of a joint-venture between Highland Film Group associates. Other projects that Relativity can seek liquidation are; Vaughn Stein's Terminal, featuring Margot Robbie; Jon Avnet's Three Christs of Ypsilanti, with stars Richard Gere, Julianna Margulies, Walton Goggins, Peter Dinklage, and Bradley Whitford; and Lin Oeding's thriller Braven, with Momoa also, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
