Trump's Presidency: Undocumented Student Seeks Refuge

Donald Trump's view on immigrants created a huge fuss on the media and social circles. Now that the president-elect is near to taking charge, a fear and discomfort rose in many areas.

According to Philly.com, undocumented students are in great despair and fright that after Trump's coming into power, they will be deported. Immigrants who were allowed to work and study and had no fear of deportation due to incomplete documentation under the Obama administration, are now worried and feeling unsafe. Students are protesting all over the country and asking the colleges to help them by not sharing their information with authorities and by not allowing law enforcement to enter the campuses.

They also demand the continuation of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, an act by Obama, without it, they won't be able to attend college and attain driver's license and work permits. The immigrants stated that DACA is helping them pay their fees and they can study in college.

DACA was taken into action in 2012, and more than seven million people have registered themselves in the program. Although Obama shared views on policies of immigration and advised that they should be given a lot of thought and consideration but protestors are still having mixed feelings as nothing seems clear at the moment.

Vice also highlighted the problem of undocumented young immigrants who came to the US and kept on working under the Obama Act (DACA), they now fear deportation and have reservations regarding their futures as Trump's intentions are pretty clear on discarding Obama's official orders as soon as possible. However in the most likely scenario, legal counsel of immigration advice undocumented students to remain patient and wait for things to open up. They are also suggesting to be prepared for other options as well.
