When you're asked about "Beauty And The Beast" besides retelling the story, what most people remember about Disney' iconic animated film is Mrs. Potts. Mrs. Potts is the mother figure in "Beauty And The Beast". The beloved character was voiced by legendary actress, Angela Lansbury. And she has a lot to say about the live-action remake of "Beauty And The Beast".
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Angela Lansbury, the voice behind the iconic "Beauty And The Beast" character, Mrs. Potts says she was confused why Disney decided to make a live-action remake of "Beauty And The Beast". But she does amend that although she doesn't really know the reason for the remake, it will be interesting to see a live-action of "Beauty And The Beast".
The legendary actress who also starred in the popular television series, "Agatha Christie's Murder She Wrote" is excited to see close friend Emma Thompson take on her role as Mrs. Potts in the live-action remake. Angela Lansbury is still confused why there's a need for a remake when the original "Beauty And The Beast" was well done.
The actress even wonders aloud if it will be better than the original. She does hope it will be "entertaining and wonderful" and acknowledges that retelling "Beauty And The Beast" with live actors will be quite different from the two-time Academy Award winning animated film, "Beauty And The Beast".
Angela Lansbury does muses that since "Beauty And The Beast" is such a famous fairy tale, it's no wonder Disney would want to make a live-action remake. But the original Mrs. Potts did say that their original animated version will always be better as it was lovingly created by the dedicated artists of Disney.
Angela Lansbury has nothing to worry about. The live-action remake has a star-studded cast with "Harry Potter" alum Emma Watson as Belle and "Downton Abbey" alum Dan Stevens as Beast. Luke Evans, Emma Thompson, Kevin Kline, Ewan Mcgregor, Ian McKellen, Stanley Tucci, and Audra McDonald round up the cast. But if the movie isn't as wonderful as Angela Lansbury hopes it to be, the original "Beauty And The Beast" will always hold a special place in our hearts.
The highly-acclaimed animated film "Beauty And The Beast" celebrated its twenty-five-year anniversary. The live-action remake of "Beauty And The Beast" is coming to theaters this March 10, 2017.
