'Fantastic Beast' Spoilers, News & Updates: JK Rowling Film Slammed For Anti-American Slant; Colin Farrell No Longer In Sequel

JK Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts" screenplay is a certified box office hit but not many are pleased with its story. The latest controversy hounding the fantasy movie is that it has anti-American sentiments.

Some viewers have apparently been offended by how JK Rowling wrote the Magical Congress of the United States of America, which governs the community of wizards. As seen in the film, the order has strict laws against magicians fraternizing with no-majs -- also known as muggles -- leading British visitor Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to comment about the order's absurd and backward laws.

Many say that this part of the story highlights America's intolerance, which is already happening in real life, Heat Street reports. Fans took to Twitter to share their observations about the ant-American slant on "Fantastic Beasts."

Meanwhile, "Fantastic Beasts" producer David Heyman confirmed that Colin Farrel will not likely return for the sequel in 2018, according to Snitch Seeker. His character, Percival Graves, was revealed to be the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) in disguise at the end of the movie.

Now that this is out of the way, Heyman believes there is no more point in bringing Percival Graves back, yet some say that such a powerful and sinister character shouldn't be so easily disregarded. According to Inverse, Colin Farrell's character could be lurking as a good guy in succeeding stories that have yet to written.

"Fantastic Beasts" will begin filming the sequel in the middle of 2017. The next movie is slated for a late 2018 run in theaters, so keep tabs for the updates on this site.
