‘Ghost In The Shell’ News & Updates: Will There Be A Sequel With Scarlett Johansson? [DETAILS HERE]

“Ghost in the Shell” still haven’t hit the theaters, but there are already a lot of questions whether it will also have a live action sequel. Also, fans are intrigued whether or not Scarlett Johansson will star the sequel.

Rupert Sanders is the director of the live-action film and in an interview, he hinted a slight hesitation when asked whether there will be a franchise of the movie. The possibility comes from the fact that it’s not origin film, so there’s a lot of angles the franchise can work on.

However, it also has a downside. Sanders added that having a lot of options could also mean that they have to choose the right sequel and there’s a possibility that it could be good or bad, Collider reports.

When it comes to casting, Sanders also noted that some of the fans didn’t accept Scarlett Johansson’s casting as Major Motoko Kusanagi. Does this mean that they’ll change the casting of the lead role if there’s a sequel? Fans will have to wait for what’s in store for the future of “Ghost in the Shell.”

Nonetheless, the current casting is considered to be “very international,” according to Sanders. He also stands in his decision in casting Johansson considering that he was given the freedom to do so.

Even Johansson commented on the issue stating that she’s capable of the role. She also trusts Sander’s decision even though she felt she wasn’t the right fit for the role at first.

For now, fans will have to wait and see considering that there’s still no confirmation regarding the "Ghost in the Shell" sequel. Specifically, DreamWorks and Paramount still haven’t released any statement about the casting and the sequel, Comic Book reports.

What do you think of Scarlett Johansson’s casting? Let us know in the comments below as we all wait for the “Ghost in the Shell” to hit the theaters on March 31, 2017.
