Sony To Release 10 Mobile Games, Including Six Titles Next Year

Japanese stalwart Sony is no pushover when it comes to video games. From the longstanding PlayStation franchise to the string of titles in its Interactive Entertainment, Sony is now planning to launch 10 new games exclusively for Smartphone users.

Back in March, the company formed ForwardWorks, the studio tasked to bring "PlayStation games and IPs to Android and iOS." Last month, Android Authority forwarded Wall Street Journal tech insider Takashi Mochizuki's tweet, saying that Sony will be announcing "software titles for its smartphone game project" on December 7. The date has passed, but the news still remains fresh. Now, word on 10 titles, including six scheduled for next year, are starting to materialize.

According to Android Authority, the games will be based on "classic Sony IP". The games will first be introduced in Sony's homeland in Japan while other Asian countries will follow suit on the following dates. While this is good news for Eastern fans, the website added that Sony has yet to decide whether its mobile games will be available to the Western side.

For their part, FowardWorks, through their official website, announced that "game applications for various smart devices" are underway. Titles will include Mingol, Hot Shots Golf, No Heroes Allowed! DASH!, Arc The Lad Wild Arms, Doko Demo Issho, PaRappa the Rapper, Boku no Natsuyasumi, Disgaea, Yomawari and Sora to Umi no Aida. Mingol and DASH! Will be playable on the Android and the iOS, while the rest of the field are still under "Project presentation."

Eventually, Sony's step in mobile gaming will support their current Xperia endeavor, as well as expand their reach as the demand for more mobile games are on a steady rise. This too will open new possibilities of additional PlayStation titles as a mobile playable if the first wave of games will be successful by the time they are released in the wild. If so, Sony will find its way to the Western world, where new audiences await their arrival.
