The actress-model Jaime King has achieved another milestone because, finally, her brand new fashion line for babies and children is officially in stores. King has dreamed of having her own baby line, and it's now a reality. "Jaime King for Sapling Child" is already available in the market.
According to Just Jared, the line launches in Australia and will be available in the U.S. starting September 2. The clothing line's website offers visitors the option to shop in their Australian or U.S. store. "From the sprawling skies of Nebraska where I grew up, to the seascape of California where I now live comes the inspiration for this collection — childhood wonder," Jaime wrote on her page on the company's website.
The actress explained that her children's clothing line was inspired by "the Japanese art of storytelling through printmaking." Through these clothes, King would like to share her childhood dreams while she watched the Nebraska skies as well as that of her son, James Knight, as he basked in the California sun.
"It is a story of dreams that were created where land, sky and spirit meet. The collection is inspired by what I hold dear, but it is a universal tale about all dreams. I hope that you and your child can enjoy our story together," the mom-of-two wrote.
Among King's collection for babies are short sleeve bodysuits, long sleeve bodysuits, rompers, pants, onesies and baby snuggle wraps to name a few. For tots, she has little skirts and T-shirts. The items are available in different prints and designs.
The designs on the site are exclusive for Sapling. The website further states that the garments are produced with 100 percent GOTS-certified cotton, which is known for its extreme softness. By using GOTS-approved water-based dyes, the prints are free of any toxic chemicals and heavy metals, making it a safer choice for babies and children.
According to InStyle, before King partnered with the Australian company, Sapling Child, she learned about it after giving birth to James Knight. She used the company's clothes because it uses organic fabrics and vegetable dyes, which, for her, is a healthier choice. The model-slash-mom posted snapshots of her baby wearing the company's products. Upon seeing the photos, the company's head designer reached out to her and said, "Have you ever thought about collaborating?"
It was an opportunity for King who has always wanted to design clothes for kids and was very particular on the company's eco-friendly vision. "The idea of putting my child in something that I believe in — that I would want other children to wear because of the way that it's made and how's it's made and the message that it brings — it's been really exciting!"
