For the coming years, Pixar's "Coco" will be its next original movie as Pixar's production will be working on sequels such as "Cars 3" (which comes out in June 2017) followed by "The Incredibles 2" and "Toy Story 4". And for six years since the studio talked about "Coco" little was known about the details of the movie until recently.
According to the Business Insider, Disney has just released new information about the upcoming Pixar original movie "Coco". The movie will be directed by Lee Unkrich who has already co-directed other Pixar movies in the past. His first solo film project for Pixar was "Toy Story 3" where he was able to prove his directing skills and soon after was given the project "Coco". Hence, director Lee Unkrich is more than happy to tweet about new updates and additions to the cast.
The story will be set on one of Mexico's well-known holidays - the Day of the Dead, where they celebrate and remember their loved ones who have passed away. Director Lee Unkrich said in an interview that it was very important for them from the beginning to get an all Latino cast for the movie. Thus, they were able to come up with a great mix of talents - both from Mexico and Los Angeles.
Entertainment Weekly writes in an article that the movie is about a twelve-year-old boy named Miguel, who comes from a family of shoemakers that have banned music in their lives because Miguel's great-great-grandfather left his wife to fulfill his dreams for his love for music. Since then, the family believed that music was a curse to them. Now, with Miguel secretly developing his passion for music, he finds himself in the Land of the Dead after trying to imitate his favorite singer. There he meets different characters and sets on a journey to find his idol Ernesto De la Cruz but only for a limited time because he needs to come back to the land of the living to persuade his family to accept music again.
"Coco" is due to be in cinemas on Nov. 22, 2017.Stay tuned for more updates on the next Pixar movies.
