With the Nintendo Switch being overclocked, having the "Dark Souls" trilogy on a handheld console is now very much possible. This is backed up by recent rumors suggesting that From Software has been working on "Dark Souls 3" for the Nintendo Switch and has gotten the game running on a level of performance they allegedly are happy with thanks to the custom NVIDIA Tegra processor of the console.
In NVIDIA's blog post, it is noted that the Nintendo Switch is powered by the scalable Tegra processor which includes NVIDIA GPU. It is also stated that the technology is based on a similar structure as NVIDIA's GeForce gaming graphic cards. This could mean that the architecture is Pascal given that Maxwell is not the architecture of the GeForce graphic cards. With a powerful GPU, it is safe to assume that "Dark Souls 3" is indeed running on the Nintendo Switch.
Additionally, one of Let's Play Video Games' sources has revealed that From Software is internally discussing the viability of making the "Dark Souls" trilogy available for the Nintendo Switch. It is also asserted that development on a Switch port has been in operation for several months via a small team, with From Software awaiting initial sales data before producing the ports.
From Software is a Japanese video game company known for "Armored Core" and the "Dark Souls" series. The series' latest installment, "Dark Souls 3" was released in April for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
A video game review by IGN gave "Dark Souls 3" 9.5 out of 10, noting the game's rewarding challenge, excellent exploration, weapon arts, and rich lore. Do you think the trilogy will be a good handheld experience?
