"The Crown" Season 2 from Netflix and creator Peter Morgan will be a tougher season for Queen Elizabeth (Claire Foy) and Prince Philip (Matt Smith). The series is a dramatized account of both alleged and historical happenings in the British royal household. The showrunner particularly focused on the transition for Queen Elizabeth from being regular royalty to taking on the responsibility of leading the British realm.
Radio Times cites description by Peter Morgan of the crown Queen Elizabeth wears as a sort of bomb that changed the dynamics around the young Elizabeth both in familial and political aspects. The writer highlighted that the Netflix series is not as much a historical witness as a story of a family. "The Crown" lays out the story of this family and what having a monarch within it means.
According to The Express, Peter Morgan has six seasons in total planned for "The Crown." Rather than ageing Claire Foy and Matt Smith in the later seasons, the series creator announced that the recasting will be done. The media outlets cites that Claire Foy and Matt Smith joked about asking to be cast as other characters. Particularly, the show leads joked about playing Margaret Thatcher and John Major once they're off their duties as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.
Variety reports that "The Crown" Season 2 will touch on the disasters and intrigues that came around the earlier years of Elizabeth as Queen. No time jump will be happening when the Netflix series returns. According to Claire Foy, Season 2 will continue right where the S1 finale left off.
"The Crown" Season 2 will definitely have a darker texture as Queen Elizabeth deals with political issues, marital issues and where both meet. Pointing out that Matt Smith does a peevish version of Prince Philip, Variety surmises that the scandals in Season 2 will lay out the scene on how Philip gets promoted from his title as Duke. Season 2 will also dramatize the issue of royal children Charles, Edward, Anne, Andrew taking on the family name of their father therefrom becoming Mountbatten-Windsor.
"The Crown Season 2" is anticipated to be released by Netflix in late November 2017. Are you all caught up in this new Netflix hit? Share your thoughts with us in the discussion section below.
