Even Gerard Butler Can’t Save ‘Geostorm’? $15M Reshoot With Danny Cannon Needed?

“Geostorm” wrapped its filming two years ago with Gerard Butler. However, it’s been reported that Danny Cannon just recently made a two-week reshoot of the film.

The reshoot is said to cost $15 million along with this are new characters and plots. Some of the original cast were dropped, is Gerard Butler one of them?

Regarding the casting of "Geostorm," there are still no specific names for the new cast. However, sources reported that there’s a new female scientist cast and Katheryn Winnick from “Vikings” was also recast, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

There were no specific reasons released for the reshoot of the film. For now, Jerry Bruckheimer is overseeing the reshoot. According to sources, the budget is high because of the need to reassemble the casts, changes in the visual effects, and music.

“Geostorm” started filming in October 2014 and it was supposed to be released Oct. 2016. However, the test audience gave the film a flopped rating. There are still no new details on the new casts of the film.

The plot of the film revolves around two themes. First, Butler is set to lead a team to stop satellites that control the climate from creating deadly storms. He has to work with his estranged brother, played by Jim Sturgess, to save the earth, Yahoo! reports.

Along with this problem, they also have to face an assassination plot against the president in "Geostorm." Will these be changed in the reshoot by Cannon?

There is still unofficial statement regarding this from Warner Bros. Some sources say that the Cannon was tapped to direct the reshoot because of Dean Devlin, the original director, is unavailable. According to some sources, the "Geostorm" reshoot took place on Dec. 3-14 in Louisiana.

It can be recalled that Danny Cannon directed “Judge Dredd” which starred Sylvester Stallone in 1995. He’s also a television helmer such as in “Gotham.”
