The widely popular "Naruto" manga series has tons of exciting news for their massive followers. First, is the recent confirmation from no less than the creator himself, Masashi Kishimoto that a live-action Hollywood film for Naruto is brewing. Then another reason to delight "Naruto" fans is the announcement of a spin-off series soon.
According to a post from Comic Book, the movie outfit, Lionsgate has secured the rights to adapt Naruto into film. Moreover, to be certain that the movie-version will stay loyal to the original series, the anime creator; Masashi Kishimoto will be involved in the film production. This news was disclosed by Kishimoto himself during the Weekly Jump's Jump Festa.
Fans who attended the said event even got a glimpse of an art work that is being developed for the live-action movie of "Naruto." To direct the film with Kishimoto is Director Michael Gracey whose portfolio includes "The Greatest Showman." The film will be produced by Arad Productions with Kelly O'Malley and Geoff Shaveitz to work on the project as well.
Even as most fans are excited about the upcoming "Naruto" movie, followers are also worried that Hollywood will not be able to expertly adapt the film. This fear comes from other anime series that were adapted into film but failed to meet the viewer's expectations such as "The Last Airbender" and the soon-to-be-released 'Ghost in the Shell." The creators did not announce an expected release date and also yet to announce casting information.
Meanwhile, a spin-off series for Naruto is also something to watch out for as reported in another Comic Book article. The spin-off is the "Borotu" manga which is set to premiere in the spring next year. Masashi Kishimoto expressed that he has great expectations about the spin-off series and even said that fans will like it even more.
