Gamers who pre-ordered "Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition" will have a sweet taste this holiday season of "Halo Wars: Definitive Edition," a revamped version of the Franchise's Real-time Strategy (RTS) game "Halo wars" which launched in 2009 for Xbox 360.
According to Xbox.com, "Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition" is scheduled to launch on February next year, but those who pre-ordered the digital version of the game will have early access to "Halo Wars: Definitive Edition," which comes with the Halo Wars 2 bundle. "Halo Wars: Definitive Edition" will be available for Xbox One and PC.
"Halo Wars: Definitive Edition" will be an upgraded version of the original "Halo wars" with better graphics and audio, it will also include all DLCs from the original game as well as a new multiplayer session browser in place of the legacy matchmaking system. Xbox also mentions that finishing touches are still being made to the game, so more improvements will take place in the game until the February launch.
It's also the first time "Halo Wars" will be coming to the PC, since the original game was exclusively available on Xbox 360. "Halo Wars: Definitive Edition " will offer up to 4K resolution on Windows 10 PC, and is optimized to run natively on Xbox One and Windows 10.
According to Ars Technica, Gamers who pre-ordered "Halo Wars 2: Definitive Edition" by December 14 will have their early-access codes. More codes will be released through the coming weeks for those who pre-ordered the game after the 14th and to those who will still pre-order "Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition."
Ars Technica also mentions that multiplayer modes are currently still offline for "Halo Wars: Definitive Edition," possibly because early-access codes are still being released. Also, local multiplayer is also not allowed due to the game's competitive and co-op modes being available for online play only.
